Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha has died in a car accident in Kempton Park Sunday morning.
The 24-year-old Sundowns central defender Motjeka Madisha has reportedly passed away in a car accident on Saturday night.
The accident is believed to have been a hit and run. According to Kick Off, the Limpopo-born Madisha died in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
“The rising star was involved in a horrific car crash in Kempton Park on Saturday evening, just hours after the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations,” said the report.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, but it’s understood the 25-year-old was travelling with one other person, who also succumbed to their injuries.
Images of the supposed accident scene showed a wrangled car that is also beyond recognition.
The South African Football Players Union on Sunday said it had been left heart broken.
This is a second loss for Masandwana in a matter of weeks after another defender Anele Ngcongca also passed away in a fatal accident.
Sundowns said in a statement sent to TimesLIVE that they would issue a more detailed statement during the course of the day on Sunday after speaking the family.
“We have become aware of certain media reports concerning Motjeka Madisha and will make an announcement in due course‚” the club said.

Madisha’s death comes just weeks after former Sundowns team-mate Anele Ngcongca’s fatal car crash last month.
Insiders told TimesLIVE that Madisha and Ngcongca were roommates at Sundowns whenever the team was in camp.
The much-loved Ngcongca had just left Sundowns to join AmaZulu at the time of his death. The Brazilians are planning to retire the number 16 shirt in his honour in the coming days.
